A New Day, Another dollar...

Hey friends and welcome to my blog.  Thanks for checking in with me today.  I knew that today was the day to write my first post about saving money..and more specifically...the basics of couponing.

As I'm sure you have noticed, coupons are becoming more prevalent in the stores by the month.  This is most likely because it is the easiest way to save on your grocery or everyday items.  It was what I watched my mother do growing up and taught me how to save a little here and there.  Basic couponing is super easy and if you can spare 1 hour a week, you too can save money this way!

Step one: pick up a copy of the Sunday paper(the one that has the inserts in the center), take in home, lay it out on the floor and pull all the coupon inserts out!  Step 2: scan all the inserts from that week...picking out the coupons that are for items you use, want, or need.  Step 3: cut out those coupons, put them in an envelope together, and put the envelope in your purse or man-bag :)  Step 4: take out the envelope at checkout, and hand the cashier all the coupons that correlate to the products on the grocery belt in front of you.  THAT'S IT!  The cashier does the rest and you watch you total go down.  That is all it takes to save a few dollars every week, every-time you go to the store.  Now...understand that  this is not Extreme couponing and will not save you thousands of dollars each month...but it is saving money.  If you wonder how much..it really depends of the coupons and the products you use, if you are willing to switch products for extra savings, and if you shop at places that have sales in place.  Taking this all into consideration, a family of 4 could easily save $20+ a week on their grocery and household items just by clipping out of the Sunday paper.  While this may not sound like much, that's almost $1000 a year.  It certainly adds up..and in this day and age, every penny counts!

Please be sure to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them all!

Stay tuned for Ad Matching 101...and as always...
